Balangir: Notorious criminal Srikanta Kumbhar alias Timan who was arrested several times on charges of intimidation and land grabbing is back to business with police registering a case against him in connection with the abduction of a man on Sunday.
The victim identified as Purushottam Patel who was allegedly kidnapped by Timan and his associates was rescued on Monday. While police nabbed Dilip Kumbhar, one of the associates of Timan for the crime, Timan is still at large.
Police said that a man, who owns 11 acres of land in Dhumamara, planned to sell it off and struck a deal with the help of Timan. However, Purusottam, who has a share in the land, opposed the deal for which he was kidnapped.
Many cases are pending against Timan who was also arrested several timers in past. Timan was last arrested two years ago and was released on bail a few months back.
Earlier in May 2016 Balangir district administration had demolished a building illegally constructed by Timan Kumbhar on government land in Larkipalli area.
