Dreaded criminal Muna Dehury injured in police encounter in Cuttack

Cuttack: In its second encounter in 24 hours Choudwar Police nabbed dreaded criminal Muna Dehury following an encounter on Dhabaleswar-Choudwar road on Monday.

Dehury also sustained a bullet injury on his left leg in police firing during the raid.

Acting upon a tip-off on Dehury’s whereabouts, a team of Choudwar Police conducted a crackdown in the wee hours today and chased him on Dhabaleswar-Choudwar road while he was en-route to  Dhenkanal from Nuapatna riding a numberless Bajaj CT-100 motorcycle.

As Dehury opened fire at the cops in a bid to escape during the raid, Choudwar IIC retaliated in the exercise of his right to defence and fired him in his left leg. The criminal was taken into custody subsequently.

Police also seized a 9 mm pistol, one live bullet, one magazine and two empty cartridges from the possession of the held criminal and rushed him to SCB Medical in Cuttack.

The held criminal has 11 cases pending against him in Cuttack and Dhenkanal districts which include robbery and murder of Lala Lalit Singh near Nuapatna rice mill on September 24 night this year.

Notably, yesterday Choudwar Police had nabbed notorious Ajay Sahu alias Jitu following an encounter on Tangi-Kapilash road.
