Cuttack: In a crackdown on historysheeters in the Millennium City, police arrested dreaded criminal Manoj Swain alias Manua following an encounter in Malgodown area during which three cops also sustained injuries.
The encounter took place after Malgodown Police got a tip-off on Manua’s presence near Biswaguru Law College in its limits and rushed to the spot. Finding the police approaching him the criminal started hurling bombs at the team in which IIC Rabi Narayan Bhanja, SI Sunil Yadav and Havildar Gulam Mohammad sustained injuries.
After police retaliated, the criminal with firing, he sustained bullet injury and fell at the spot.
Police seized a bag full of country made bombs from the criminal after arresting him.
The injured criminal was immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in the city for treatment.
The held criminal has a number of criminal cases pending against him at Chauliaganj and Malgodown police stations.
