Dr Achyuta Samanta to receive first ‘NCST Leadership Award’ for KISS today

Bhubaneswar: By adding another feather to its cap the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) will be awarded with the first ‘NCST Leadership Award” in the category of educational institutions by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) at New Delhi today.

Renowned educationist, MP and founder of KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta will receive the award for the institute from Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu at the Foundation Day lecture at the National Media Centre.

The award is being given for significant and exemplary services towards Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the country.

A letter in connection with the award which was sent to the KISS founder on January 13, mentioned that it will be in the shape of a medal, citation and a shawl.

The letter further mentioned that, the “NCST Leadership Award” is recognition for commitment of educational institutes including Universities, Colleges and Schools towards Scheduled Tribes.

The NCST was set up on February 9, 2004 through Constitution (89th) Amendment Act.
