Dowry Killing: 4 of family sentenced for life in Jajpur
Jajpur: Pronouncing its judgement in five-year-old Panikoili dowry killing case, a local court sentenced at least four persons for life here yesterday.
Declaring the quantum of punishment, the Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) court ordered for life imprisonment of the victim’s husband, her father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Notably, the victim namely Kusumlata Sahu had been murdered by his in-laws in 2014. Based on a complaint filed by her family members police had arrested the accused husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. However, the brother-in-law had died in jail last year.
During the hearing in the case, the court recorded statements of 15 witnesses and found the family guilty in the case, said government lawyer Rajendra Nayak.
