Berhampur: A doctor turned ‘messiah’ for a pregnant woman by helping her deliver her baby on the roadside near Courtpeta Chhak in the town today.
The doctor identified as Smurti Ranjan Patnaik also rushed both the woman and her newborn to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
As per reports, one K Parvati of Patrapur block in Ganjam district was abandoned midway by an auto-rickshaw driver while she was being rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
However, Patnaik along with other locals came forward to help the woman and helped her deliver the baby. They also arranged an ambulance to rush the woman to the Medical College.
Doctors said that the health condition of both the woman and her newborn baby is stable.
