Doctor carries patient on cot for 5 km in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A doctor working in Odisha’s Maoist-hit Malkangiri district set an example for others by carrying a patient on a cot for five km to get the ambulance on Tuesday.

According to report, Dr. Shakti Prasad Mishra, working with NGO Arogya Plus, got information that one Kamlu Kirsani, a 12-year-old boy of Nuaguda village under Khairput block of the district was suffering from fever.

The family members called the ambulance service to take him to the Hospital, but it didn’t turn up due to lack of motorable road to the village.

As the villagers didn’t come forward to help the tribal boy, Dr. Mishra and the driver of the ambulance carried the patient on a cot from Nuaguda to Belbadi , around five km of distance, to reach near the ambulance.

Later, the patient was taken to the District Headquarter hospital here for his treatment.
