Doctor attempts suicide after patient’s death in Odisha
Bargarh: In a bizarre incident, a doctor allegedly attempted to commit suicide following the death of one of his patients today.
According to reports, Labanga Sahu, a native of Banabasapali village on the outskirts of Bargarh town, had come to doctor Subodh Sahu’s clinic at Bandhutikara due to her toothache. However, Labanga’s condition became critical after doctor Subodh administered her allegedly a wrong injection. She was then rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where she breathed her last while undergoing treatment.
Following the death of Labanga, the doctor slitted his own throat with a sharp weapon. He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to Burla-based VIMSAR after his condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, acute tension prevailed on the premises of Bargarh hospital.
On being informed about the matter, police arrived on the site and started a probe into the matter. They said that the body of the woman will be handed over to her relatives after completion of the postmortem.
