Baripada: The Baripada special vigilance court on Friday sentenced a doctor and two others to one year of rigorous imprisonment for issuing a fake birth certificate last year.
Three convicts are the then doctor of Rasgovindpur Hospital in Mayurbhanj district Dr Ananta Besra, Clerk Bholanath Rout and Ex-Sarpanch Sudam Hembram. They were convicted for cheating, forgery and using forged documents as genuine.
The court also slapped Rs 10,000 fine to each of them.
Notably, the accused had reportedly issued fake birth certificates to three Sarpanch candidates during their filing of affidavits in last Panchayat elections. The certificate had stated that the then Sarpanch had two children instead of four.
