Anandpur: Doctors and nurses of Anandpur Sub Divisional Hospital today started an indefinite cease-work stir and held a sit-in protest here demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in yesterday’s brutal attack on a colleague.

The protest which witnessed the participation of all staff of the hospital, brought the healthcare facility in the Sub Division to a halt and gave a tough time to patients and their relatives.

“We demand arrest of all five accused who were involved in the attack on Dr Rabinarayan Senapati along with 24-hour police protection inside the hospital premises to avoid such incidents in future. The stir would continue till the administration submits a written assurance in this connection,” said Chandriaka Sahoo, a striking nurse.

At least five youths who admitted a friend to the hospital with minor injury in the wee hours of night yesterday, allegedly went on manhandling Senapati later. They alleged negligence on the part of the staff in attending the patient, which the doctor ruled out.
