Do Not Indulge In Panic Buying: Odisha Min urges people ahead of possible cyclone

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain has urged the people to not indulge in panic buying essential commodities ahead of a possible cyclone.

The Minister has said that stocking up of essentials may lead to artificial scarcity following which the traders can take advantage of this and involve in illegal price rise.

The government is making every effort to face the possible cyclone. The Department of Food Supply is also closely monitoring the market.

He also said that the black market and fraudulent traders are being closely monitored by the department and strong action will be taken if necessary.

“Stay alert amid the possible cyclone and don’t panic. The government is always with you,” he mentioned.

It is to be noted that a cyclonic circulation has formed over South Andaman Sea and its neighborhood at 5.30 am and extended up to mid-tropospheric levels, informed Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

A low-pressure area will be formed with the effect of the possible cyclonic circulation on May 6 which is likely to become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours.
