Diwali mishap in Odisha: Firecracker-packed bag explosion kills 1, 2 injured

Dhenkanal: Diwali celebration for three youths turned out to be tragic as the firecracker-packed bag, which they were carrying, exploded at Barada village in Dhenkanal district this evening.

According to reports, the mishap took place when three youths were carrying the bag with firecrackers. They were returning home after purchasing firecrackers from Barada market under Dhenkanal Sadar Police limits.

The deceased youth has been identified as Maheswar Rana of Barada village while the injured are Biren Nayak and Prasanna Brahma. Both of them are also natives of the same village.

Meanwhile, both Biren and Prasanna have been admitted to the district headquarter hospital for treatment.

Likewise, one Krishna Chandra Nayak (55) was killed in an explosion at Juidaspur village in Kendrapara district. The incident took place while Nayak was busy making firecrackers at his home. Another man, who had gone to purchase the firecrackers, was also injured due to the mishap.
