Deogarh: A minor girl was killed while 8 others injured after the wall of Rengalbeda Sevashram in Riamala region collapsed owing to heavy rain early this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rasmita Pradhan.
All the injured were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital. However, four of them – Kajol Sahu, Kajol Mahare, Ayodhya Penthei and Om Bharti Pradhan – were shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after their condition deteriorated.
The mishap took place when the children were playing this morning.
Tension prevailed in the area as locals blocked NH-53 at Rengalbeda demanding compensation for the families of the victims.
Police who reached the spot to control the situation, have started investigation into the incident.
