Maoist posters surface in Rayagada again

Mao postersRayagada: After a brief lull, red-fear has struck people in Rayagada again on Friday with new posters surfacing at the Ichhapur village of the Muniguda block in the district. The posters have been released in the name of the Bansadhara-Ghumusara-Nagabali Divisional Committee.

Some locals first spotted the Maoist posters put up on the walls of the panchayat office in the village. Around four posters were seen with messages appealing the state government to make immediate arrangements for relief and rescue of flood-affected people in Kalahandi and Rayagada distrcits.

Red rebels of Bansadhara-Ghumusara-Nagabali Divisional Committee have also sought pucca houses for flood victims under various welfare schemes like Biju Pucca Ghara and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna. Advocating for the environmental preservation, the Maoists have also demanded a ban on the growth of the mining, tree-felling and other deforestation activities. With special focus on the development of the people in Karlapata area in the district, a demand has also been made for the upgradation of healthcare and educational infrastructure in the area.

Ichhapur Police reached the village later in the day and seized them. They were examining the authenticity of the posters till this report was being filed.
