Some locals first spotted the animal inside the water body and took the matter to the notice of the local Sarpanch, who called up the Hindol Forest Range officials in the evening. A team of forest officials, which reached the spot immediately, succeeded in fishing out the calf from the water after hours of effort.

Later, the calf was shifted to the Hindol Forest Range office for a health check-up and was found to be in healthy state. It would be released into the forest soon, informed forest department sources.
