Jajpur: Two persons were critically injured at Malda village under Kimbhiriapal panchayat in the district this morning after the firecrackers they were busy preparing went off suddenly.
The injured have been identified as Seikh Salim (28), and Seikh Matuali (35).
It is suspected that the firecrackers prepared and stored at the home of the victims caught fire due to some reason before exploding. The intensity of the explosion was so high that the asbestos sheet of the roof caved in completely under its impact and the house caught fire.
The injured duo was rushed to the Jajpur Hospital by locals where their condition is stated to be critical. The victims have suffered 90% burn, hospital sources said.
Bari police has reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
