Disappointment yet again, World famous Bali Yatra not to be held this year

Cuttack: The famous and historical Bali Yatra of Cuttack in Odisha will not be held this year also due to the ongoing spread of the deadly coronavirus, informed district collector Bhabani Shankar Chaini. The district administration has no plans to organize Bali Yatra this year too as the Covid cases in the State is in plateau stage.

The owners of small businesses, cottage industries, handicrafts traders, medium scale businessmen, Mission Shakti and Selh-help Groups (SHG) have expressed their disappointment yet again this year. The intelligentsia have said that the cottage industries will be highly affected as the famous Bali Yatra has not been held for two consecutive years.

Usually, more than 2000 small and large scale traders get involved during Bali Yatra in Cuttack where business transactions of crores of rupees take place. It is to be noted that there has been a lot of revenue loss due to the halt in Bali Yatra.

The district collector has also said that the restrictions have been imposed on fairs, festivals and big exhibitions due to the fluctuating Covid cases in the state.

Bali Yatra literally means ‘Voyage to Bali’. It is a festival that commemorates the rich maritime history of Odisha is celebrated throughout the state. In Cuttack, a week-long event is organised starting from the day of Kartika Purnima.
