Rourkela: Senior BJP leader and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray has expressed unhappiness about the “inordinate delay” in the construction of the second bridge on Brahmani River here and shared his anguish on social media today saying “Maati Aage Party Pare” ( Motherland comes first than the Political party).

The BJP leader also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi  and Union Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari for not fulfilling their promise of early completion of the much-awaited second bridge over Bramhani River.

“On 21st July 2017 i.e., the day when the foundation stone was laid down by Hon’ble MoRTH Minister Gadkariji, he in his statement to media persons had asserted that the construction of the Bridge would commence in 15 days. 21st July was no less than a celebration day for the people of the district as their long-standing pending emotional demand had been fulfilled but unfortunately, that celebration was short-lived, which now has been substituted by a sense of growing frustration and deception. Nine months have passed since then but as of now, no progress is visible on the ground level,” Ray wrote in his Facebook post.

“With deep grief in my heart, I am saying it, the voters here had greatly reposed faith in the PM’s vision of “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikash” and overwhelmingly voted for the BJP candidates but after these unfortunate events they are now feeling disillusioned,” he added.

The BJP legislator stated that the proposed site for the construction of Brahmani Bridge is Non-Forest Land and the State government has cleared land acquisition and other required issues for construction of the bridge.

Ray also revealed that he will meet Gadkari in the first week of April to request him to start the construction of the bridge at the earliest.

“In the 1st week of the upcoming month, I will be calling on Gadkariji again to request him to direct the officials and the executing agency to start the construction without further deferral. I will also be reminding him of his statement which he had made to the media persons on 21st July, in which he had said that the construction would start in 15 days and also about his letter dated 06.12.2017 in which he had stated that the work will start within a week of the receipt of required clearances,” Ray said.
