Ganjam: A differently-abled minor girl was allegedly raped by a man in Rambha area in the district. Police have detained the youth identified as M. Lingaraj Patra for interrogation.
Police said that the family members of the victim alleged that the accused entered the house of the 14-year-old girl when she was alone and later outraged her modesty.
Police said that the incident took place on Tuesday after which the family of the victim lodged a complaint against the accused with the village committee. The village committee imposed a penalty on the accused but he refused to pay the fine.
The mother of the victim, however, lodged a formal police complaint today. Police today conducted medical examinations of both the victim and the accused.
