Dhenkanal vigilance raid: SI in possession of DA worth Rs 2 Crores

Dhenkanal: The Odisha Vigilance has unearthed disproportionate assets worth Rs 2 crores in possession of  Mahabirod police outpost in-charge Samarendra Samal in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.

Earlier on Tuesday, simultaneous house searches have been conducted by Odisha vigilance at seven places and a farmhouse in the district. The vigilance had formed eight teams led by three DSPs, seven Inspectors and other staff and are conducting search on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets.

The vigilance sleuths conducted raids at houses, district quarters, paternal house in Kendrapara, Mahapada farmhouse, in-laws house in Kamakhyanagar’s Kanpura, Joranda police outpost and Mahabirod police outpost. The search has been conducted on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Dhenkanal.

It is learnt that two houses in Dhenkanal’s Kantanali area worth Rs 99 lakhs, gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakhs, Rs 16 lakhs from eight bank accounts, plantation worth Rs 16 lakh in farmhouse in Kendupada, Rs 97,000 cash and furniture worth Rs 2 lakhs have been seized. Following this, SI Samarendra have been taken to Cuttack vigilance headquarters.

As many as two double floored buildings in Banamaliprasad, one house in Kendupatana, 10 plots in the district, two poultry farms in Mahapada, one four wheeler, one bike, insurance worth Rs 4,41,000 have also been seized from Samal’s possession.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
