Puri: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met family members of slain CRPF jawan Manoranjan Lenka at his home in Rebana Nuagaon village under Brahmagiri block and consoled his family last night.

Pradhan, who was accompanied by Odisha BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra, late Lulu Mohapatra’s brother Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra and daughter Upasana Mohapatra, had a conversation of at least 15 minutes with Lenka’s mother, brother and sister during which he assured the bereaved family of all possible help from Central Government.

Earlier, during his visit, the Union Minister also paid a floral tribute to the martyr at his home.

“The highest sacrifice of Lenka would not go waste. Lenka, who came from a poor family, has proved to be the true son of the soil by laying down his life for the nation. Central Government would extend all possible help to his family and would never tolerate the anti-national elements, who are trying to snatch away the power undemocratically at the gun point. They would certainly not be spared,” said Pradhan in his reaction to media after the visit.

Lenka attained martyrdom on March 13 after Maoists blew up a mine-protected vehicle (MPV) of CRPF carrying jawans from Kistaram to Palodi in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh during an area-domination operation. At least nine jawans were killed and two others sustained critical injury in the attack.
