Dharmendra Pradhan to launch ‘CNG supply’ in Bhubaneswar on Dec 16

Bhubaneswar: Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will launch the much awaited Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) supply and CNG-run scooters in the capital city of Odisha on Saturday, announced GAIL (India) Limited Director (Projects) Dr. Ashutosh Karnatak.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, Karnatak said, “Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will launch supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and CNG-run scooters in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, and lay the foundation stones for two new gas pipelines which are connected to the mainline, as a part of ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’ project on Sunday.”

“The Minister will inaugurate CNG stations at Chandrasekharpur and Patia in the State capital tomorrow,” he added saying as many as 44 CNG stations will be commissioned in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to supply CNG to over 1.5 lakh vehicles in the coming year.

More significantly, Bhubaneswar will be the fourth city in India to get CNG scooters. Earlier, these were available only in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

On Sunday, the Minister will lay the foundation stones for new Dhamra – Angul main gas line and Bhubaneshwar – Cuttack – Paradip gas line at Jamulanda village of Sukinda area in Jajpur district, as a part of the ambitious Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra natural gas pipe line (JHBDPL) project.

The state-owned firm GAIL is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga as well as the City Gas Distribution (CGD) projects in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Senior GAIL officials Vandana Chanana, KB Singh and AK Srivastava were present during the press meet.
