Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates Bhubaneswar New Railway Station

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan dedicated Bhubaneswar New Railway Station to the public on Saturday.  He also launched a mobile App of the East Coast Railway to facilitate tourists during Ratha Yatra in Puri.

“The new station will ensure better communication for people of northern parts of the city like Patia, Barang, Nandankanan, Raghunathpur etc . as well as improve local business and connectivity”, said the Minister.

The new station is situated at Baranga, around 14km away from the existing main station at Master Canteen in the city. Official sources said the cost of the project was Rs 50 crore.

According to East Coast Railways (ECoR) sources, three passenger trains-Bhubaneswar-Howrah-Puri-Santragachhi, Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela and Cuttack-Brahmapur-Cuttack MEMU will stop at the new railway station on an experimental basis for a period of six months.

Pradhan also inaugurated a slew of other infrastructure projects including third foot overbridge at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, MEMU Shed at Khurda Road Railway Station, new ticket counter at Bagala Dharmashala in Puri through video-conferencing.
