Dharmendra Pradhan gets rousing welcome in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: After being re-elected to the Rajya Sabha, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was accorded a rousing welcome by Odisha BJP activists on his arrival here on Friday.

Thousands of party activists and supporters of the saffron party gathered at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here to welcome Pradhan, who was then taken out to the state headquarters party office in a massive procession from the airport.

The Petroleum Minister was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.

Pradhan, who previously went to the Upper House from Bihar, is the first politician from Odisha to have been elected to Rajya Sabha from outside the state.

The saffron leader was a Member of 14th Lok Sabha from Deogarh constituency. He was also an MLA from Pallahara Assembly segment from 2000-2004.
