Durga Puja: DGP visits puja mandaps, takes stock of security arrangementsCuttack: Odisha DGP Dr. RP Sharma visited different puja mandaps and took stock of security arrangements in the Millennium City on the occasion of Maha Navami on Friday.

Sharma also paid obeisance to goddess Durga on Maha Navami – a day before Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami).

As many as 25 platoons of police force have been deployed in Bhubaneswar while 54 platoons of police personnel have been stationed in Cuttack to make the weeklong festive period hassle free.

Undercover police personnel, Quick Action Team (QAT), ODRAF teams also have been put in place. Two platoons of SOGs in Cuttack and one platoon is deployed in Bhubaneswar to ensure that any eventualities are kept in abeyance. Besides, two platoons of CRPF are also keeping a close vigil.

While 182 pandals of Goddess Durga adorn Bhubaneswar, 168 pandals have been erected in the silver city.

Extra vigilance has been kept by the police near pandals with gold and silver adornments and decorations.
