Devotees likely to be allowed in Rath Yatra 2022, Two action plans ready

Puri: This year devotees are likely to be allowed to participate in the world famous Rath Yatra 2022 to be held in Puri of Odisha. It all depends upon condition of the pandemic. If Covid situation would not be there, then devotees are likely to be allowed to take part in the famous car festival.

As per reports, two plans are in place in this regard. The first plan is about – if devotees would be allowed, what will be the arrangement and the second plan is – if Covid situation worsens what is to be done during Rath Yatra in Puri.

It is to be noted that for the last two years devotees were not allowed to physically participate in Rath Yatra due to Covid pandemic.

The government departments are preparing to tackle the situation, in case more number of devotees would visit this year during the car festival. All the departments have submitted their action plans. Puri Collector intimated about it in a review meeting held in Puri to decid about Rath yatra 2022.  Soon another high level meeting will be held in this regard.

In the meeting today 20 government departments submitted their action plans  to the Collector over chariot construction, elements need for Raths, health and sanitary services, drinking water supply, road repairing, power supply, and police arrangement.  The district collector has issued directive to the departments to remain alert because, if devotees would be allowed for Rath Yatra this year, the number is expected to increase.

Reportedly, preparations have been made for around 15 lakh devotees. It will be a record and memorable Rath Yatra if 15 lakh people will join. And for this, discussion was held in the meeting to seek permission from UNESCO in this regard
