Jajpur: Devotees are flocking to the Baitarani River near Siddheshwar Pitha in Jajpur district of Odisha to witness the giant Shiva Linga that was discovered on Monday.
The Siddheshwar Pitha under Dasarathpur Tehsil in Jajpur district is a renowned shrine. People from far places come down here to do worship and to perform funeral rituals including Pindadana.
Yesterday a huge Shiva Linga was discovered near this temple in the water of Baitarani River about 200 meters from the temple. Today, the pinnacles of two other temples have also been witnessed in the water near the Shiva Linga.
It has been said that from the Shivaratri day, the Shiva Linga was partly visible. However, after the water level receded the full Linga emerged out of the water.
After getting information, Dasarathpur BDO visited the spot and witnessed the Shiva Linga. District Administration has informed about it to the ASI. If required, the Linga will be preserved in a Museum, informed District admin. The Archaeological department will discover about age of the temple.
The Shiva Linga is 3 feet high. The locals have demanded for the preservation of the Linga.
