Bargarh: Tearing into the Naveen-led BJD government in Odisha, during her addressed at a public meeting during Bijepur by-poll campaign in the Gaisilet block here today the Union Textile, Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani said the ‘development’ is in exile for the people of Odisha for last 18 years.
Smruti, who arrived in Bijepur to campaign for the saffron party candidate Ashok Panigrahy and addressed her first public meet in Gaisilet said the incumbent Chief Minister has failed to provide even the basic amenities to the people of the state in its last 18 years rule. People in the rural patches of the state still struggle for electricity and safe drinking water but the scenario would change if BJP comes to power and if people vote for Ashok Panigrahy in Bijepur, she said.
“Lord Sri Ram had been exiled to forest for only 14 years whereas the people of Odisha are on exile from development since past 18 years. People in remote patches of the state are still struggling for basic amenities like safe drinking water. The election of February 24 is not only the election of Ashok Mohapatra rather it is the by-poll of all those women who still struggle for safe drinking water for her family and proper education and employment for her child,” said Smruti.
“Development is with BJP so press the lotus button to get development at your doorstep. Goddess Laxmi will shower her blessings on Bijepur and it would prosper if you vote for BJP,” assured Smruti to a massive crowd at Gaisilet.
In her words of appreciation for Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan who accompanied her during the public meeting, Smruti dubbed him as the son of the soil of Odisha who created history in Indian politics by providing LPG connections to 3.30 Cr women in just 3 years under Modi Government’s Ujjwala Scheme. The scheme aims to provide subsidised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) connections to around 5 crore women from BPL households in the country.
Smruti asked the people of Bijepur, if Pradhan can do it for crores of women of this country by toiling hard day and night at Delhi, why they would vote for Naveen who has failed on all front.
