Cuttack: A farmer hung himself to death over inability to repay the loan taken for agricultural purposes in Kolanpur village under Nischintakoili block in the district today.
The deceased has been identified as Sumant Mallick.
As per the family members of Mallick he has taken huge amount for loan both from local money lenders and banks for farming in past few months. However, he failed to repay the money due to crop loss this season which caused a disturbance with his wife.
After the money lenders frequently started visiting the victim’s home to put pressure for the repayment of the loan amount he committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house.
Police have seized the body and started investigation into the incident.
