Bhubaneswar: A day after her postmortem report revealed that Tanya Banerjee, an under-graduate student of DAV School of Business Management (DSBM) in the city, died of suffocation, Commissionerate of Police on Wednesday recorded the statement of her parents at the Capital Police Station here in this connection.
Commenting on the postmortem report which confirmed that it was a case of suicide, Tanya’s parents have decried a foul play involving her death.
Her mother demanded strong action against the persons responsible for Tanya’s death alleging that physical and mental torture had been inflicted by a few seniors that forced her daughter to end the life.
She added that Tanya was humiliated following a scuffle with her inmates on the fateful night. Apprehending danger, she had narrated the entire episode to me over phone the previous night.
Tanya’s father said that they were not satisfied with the progress in the probe.
Notably, Tanya’s body was found hanging inside the hostel of DSBM on November 28.
