Bhubaneswar: Putting an end to all speculations over DAV School of Business Management (DSBM) student Tanya Banerjee’s suicide, her post-mortem report revealed today that she died of suffocation.
Informing on the findings of the post-mortem Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said Tanya died of ‘suffocation due to hanging’.
The post-mortem holds significance, taking into view the fact that the victim’s mother had alleged that the incident was a “well-planned murder”. Tanya’s father had also claimed since the day of the incident that she had been killed by inmates in the hostel over the theft of cosmetic items.
Tanya was found dead in her hostel room in DSBM on November 28. At that time her mother informed that she called up her a day before and expressed her intention to end life over misbehaviour in the hands of hostel mates.
Based on the allegations of Tanya’s parents the Commissionerate Police has lodged a case in the incident under Section 306 of IPC.
