Nayagarh: An under-trial prisoner (UTP) lodged at Daspalla sub-jail passed away under treatment at the local hospital here today.
The deceased has been identified as Krushna Patra of Banigochha village of the same district.
Krushna had been arrested along with his wife on the charge of attacking a relative around two months ago. He reported chest pain last night and was rushed to Daspalla Community Health Centre (CHC) by the jail authority.
The UTP succumbed under treatment this morning, said the hospital source.
Daspalla Police has seized the body of the UTP for autopsy and started an investigation into the death.
