Damodar Rout dismissed from BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former Minister and senior leader Damodar Rout was on Wednesday dismissed from BJD. This was informed by BJD state secretary Bijay Kumar Nayak in a press release which said that Rout has been expelled from BJD as per orders of the party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Nayak.

Patnaik’s decision came after thousands of party members from Jagatsinghpur district had yesterday met him at Naveen Niwas and had demanded disciplinary action against the veteran party leader for his alleged anti-party activities.

Earlier on Monday, Jagatsinghpur BJD leaders including district president Bishnu Das and Balikuda-Erasama MLA Prashant Muduli had met Patnaik and submitted him a memorandum demanding Rout’s dismissal alleging his anti-party activities.

Bishnu Das had alleged that Damodar Rout had supported arrested Bapu Parida, a close aide of arrested gangster Sayed Usman Ali alias Tito.

Notably, Naveen had earlier on December 22, 2017 had removed Rout from the Council of Ministers over his several controversial remarks.

Damodar Rout is the MLA of Paradip constituency in Jagatsinghpur district. He had alleged there were irregularities in sapling plantation, procurement of polythene sheets for OMFED, cooperative bank and health sector in the recent past.
