Sambalpur: Curiosity struck the locals in Tumbesingha area in Sambalpur district today after damaged and soiled currencies were found dumped under a bridge.
While notes with Rs 500 face value were seen lying for last four days, Sambalpur Police reached the spot today only to seize a few of them.
While an investigation is underway by police to ascertain the origin of the notes, it is being suspected that somebody might have tried to destroy the cash to conceal Income Tax default.
