Dalai Lama praises Odisha CM

Odisha Chief MinisterBhubaneswar: The Tibetan spiritual leader and Nobel Peace laureate Dalai Lama appreciated Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday saying the latter has been bestowed with love and respect from the people of the state for a long period of time.

Speaking to media persons, the 82-year-old Buddhist monk said, “Naveen Patnaik is one of the longest serving Chief Minister of the country. Unlike the Zimbabwean leader Mugabe, the Chief Minister came to power here through election process; and more importantly, he has won the people’s trust and respect. So I admire him.”

“Tibetan people, who have been staying here, are very happy and the State is very kind to them,” he added.

Talking about Indo-China relation, the spiritual leader said, “Both India and China have over hundred million people in their respective countries. China needs India and India needs China. People of both the countries should live peacefully and help each other.”

On his part the Chief Minister said, “I am honoured that his Holiness Dalai Lama is visiting Odisha, and, it is the second time that I met him as Chief Minister of the State.”

Notably, the Buddhist monk reached here today on a three-day Odisha visit. He will be conferred with the 10th “KISS Humanitarian Award” by the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) here on Tuesday.
