Dacoity bid foiled, 5 arrested in Odisha

Bhanjanagar: Jagannathprasad police in Odisha’s Ganjam district foiled a loot bid and arrested five dacoits from a nearby forest today.

Jagannathprasad Police station IIC Jubaraj Swain informed that based on an input from a reliable source a police team rushed to the forest situated near the police station and surrounded the dacoits while they were planning for a dacoity.

While cops managed to arrest fiver persons from the spot, at least four of the dacoits gave a slip to the police, Swain said.

The IIC identified the arrested criminals as Binod Patra, Sagar Behera, Simanchal Sahoo, Sunil Gauda and Harekrushna Sahoo.

The Jagannathprasad Police also seized arms and ammunition including a country-made gun from the possessions of the accused persons.

The IIC further said that an interrogation of the arrested persons is underway to extract more information about their aides and their links with other criminal cases. They will be forward to the court later today, he added.
