Rourkela: Vigilance sleuths today raided the office and houses of Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology, Rourkela Bidyadhar Biswal for amassing assets disproportionate to his known source of income and detained him.
Simultaneous raids were conducted at five places including Biswal’s office located at Udit Nagar in the Steel City, ancestral home at Nimikheta in Khordha district, his residence at Pokhariput along with a relative’s house at Patrapada in Bhubaneswar.
However, the official’s government quarter located at LIC Colony here could not have been searched and was sealed as it was found locked at the time of raid.
A team of 25 anti-corruption bureau officials who took part in the raid after getting a tip-off on Biswal’s involvement in graft, checked land records, bank accounts and other vital documents possessed by him during the search.
The raid was underway till this report was being filed.
