Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Corporator Ranjita Biswal. She got the bail against Rs 20,000 bail bond and two sureties.
Notably, the Commissionerate police had arrested Biswal, the Corporator of ward no 7 of CMC, for her alleged connection with gangster brothers Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamant.
Biswal was allegedly involved in supplying weapon in connection to recent firing on Bijay Kumar Pal of Subhadrapur.
The Dhalasamant brothers, also known as D-brothers, had formed the Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangh and Biswal was the Joint Secretary of the organisation.
It was alleged that the Dhalasamant brothers used to spread their crime empire through the Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangh by organising various social activities. However, following the arrest of the D-brothers, the Sangh was dissolved.
Biswal was dismissed from the primary membership of BJD following her arrest.
