Cyclonic circulations to trigger heavy rain in 9 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The city-based Regional Meteorological Centre here on Monday predicted heavy rain in nine districts of the state in the next 24 hours on account of cyclonic circulations over Northwest Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh.

Ganjam, Puri, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur and Balasore districts are the nine districts which have been issued the heavy rain warning.

On the other hand, two women – Draupadi Rahidash and Bisakhabhoi Samal – were killed by lightning strike at Karamdihi vilallge under Sadar Police limits of Sundergarh district this evening.

Lightning struck them while they were working on a paddy field along with others. Police have begun an investigation into the matter by sending their bodies to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem.
