Cyclone Titli: Schools, Colleges, Anganwadi centres to remain closed in Odisha for 2 days

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday announced that all schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres will remain closed in the state on October 11 and 12 as a precaution against Cyclone Titli.

The announcement came after a high level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, was held at State Secretariat little while ago.

“Educational institutions , Anganwadi centres will remain closed on October  11 and 12 as the cyclonic storm Titli will trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state,” Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad said after the meeting.

However, the teachers have been asked to remain in attendance in their respective institutions, the Chief Secretary added.

Padhi also stated  that the students’ union elections in four universities and all colleges across the state scheduled on Thursday have been put on hold till further orders.

Meanwhile, all officers have been asked to remain in headquarters and not to avail leave till the cyclone situation is over.

The cyclone is likely to make landfall near Gopalpur on Thursday morning.
