Cyclone Titli: Odisha Government announces aid for house damage, livestock loss

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today announced financial assistance for the families of cyclone ‘Titli’ affected districts of the state which suffered loss to houses and livestock.

Giving a detailed breakdown of the financial aid which will be given from the State Disaster Relief Fund by the government under different categories Odisha Deputy Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra said, as per the decision, a sum of Rs 1,01,900 for families in hilly areas and Rs 95,100 in plain areas will be provided for house repairing work. For partially damaged houses, a sum of Rs 5200 for pucca houses, Rs 3200 for kutcha and Rs 4100 for huts will be provided.

For loss of livestock to the calamity and the incessant rain which followed it, Rs 30,000 for loss of a cow and Rs 25,000 for the loss of an ox will be given per family. However, such aid is limited to a maximum of three such animals, Mohapatra added.

For goat and sheep, Rs 3000 per family subjected to a maximum of 30 such animals will be provided.

Similarly, the cyclone affected families will get Rs 2000 for utensils and Rs 1800 for clothes.

Informing on the progress of the restoration work in the ‘Titli’ affected districts, the Deputy Relief Commissioner informed that power supply has been restored in Ganjam and Rayagada districts. The same will be completed in Gajapati districts by October 23.
