Cyclone Mocha update: Cyclonic circulation to form over Bay of Bengal today

A cyclonic circulation will form over Southeast Bay of Bengal area today and a low-pressure will form over the BOB tomorrow.

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation will form over Southeast Bay of Bengal area today that is on Saturday. Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area will form tomorrow at that very place, said the latest weather report by Indian Meteorological Department.

The low pressure will further intensify into a depression on May 8. It will then develop into a cyclone as it moves southward into the Central Bay of Bengal by 10th May. The cyclone has been named as Mocha. Under the influence of the Cyclone, strong winds will blow at a speed of 80 km over the central Bay of Bengal.

However, IMD is yet to indicate the path of the cyclone. Most of the weather models predict that the cyclone will likely head toward Myanmar. After the low-pressure is formed, there will be clarity on the path of the cyclone. The IMD said that there is no accurate prediction of where the storm will hit and how much intensity it will have. By the 8th of May, the speed and intensity of the cyclone will be known.
