Cyclone JAWAD: Sunday, Leaves of all Odisha govt employees cancelled

Bhubaneswar: In view of the Cyclone Jawad ,which is ready to make a landfall in south of Puri on Sunday afternoon, The Odisha government has decided to cancel all the government employees week-off (Sunday) and leaves.

The week-off of all the government employees have been cancelled. The officials are directed not to leave the headquarters. Those who are on leave have been asked to cancel their leave and join the duty as early as possible. informs Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena.

The Deep Depression over west-central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal has intensified into cyclone JAWAD at 11.30 am today, informed Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, on Friday.

The current wind speed at the center of the Cyclonic Storm named JAWAD is 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph. It lies about 420 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam, 650 km south-southeast of Paradip, and 530 km south-southeast of Gopalpur.

It is likely to reach the west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast by the evening of December 4. It may touch the land near Puri in Odisha by noon of December 5, added IMD DG. It will continue to move north-northeastward along the Odisha coast towards West Bengal coast.

Cyclone JAWAD and is likely to make landfall in Puri district, informed SRC Pradeep Jena in a press meet today.
