Cyclone Jawad moving at a speed of 15kmph, 70 km away from Puri: IMD

Bhubaneswar: The deep depression remnant of cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ is moving with a speed of 15kmph and is 70 km away from Puri, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

The system is 90 km away from Gopalpur, 70 km away from Puri and 210 km away from Paradip, the IMD said.

“Deep Depression remnants of cyclonic storm Jawad now lay centered about 70 km away from Puri. It is likely to weaken further into a Depression in next 3 hrs and reach West Bengal as a low-mark low pressure. Paradip has recorded 56mm rainfall in three hours,” says IMD DG.

Under the influence of the system, several parts of the State are experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for 9 districts such as Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur.

Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Nayagarh and Ganjam from Meteorological Department.
