Cyclone Fani: Over 3 lakh people evacuated from low-lying areas in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha evacuated over three lakh thirty-one thousand people from low-lying areas of at least fifteen districts in the state, which are likely to be affected in the ensuing severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’, by 3 PM on Thursday.
The State government has planned to evacuate a total 11,54,475 persons in view of the cyclone . Official sources said the evacuation exercise will be completed by this evening.

The cyclonic storm is expected to make landfall near Puri between 8 AM and 10 AM on Friday with wind speeds ranging up to 180 kilometres per hour. Its impact is likely to remain till 12 noon, according to the latest IMD bulletin.
Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, and Jagatsinghpur districts will be worst affected with the cyclone, official sources said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appealed the people to not to be frightened and cooperate with the government during this emergency situation.
