Cyclone Fani: HDFC Bank to restore 20 schools in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Extending a helping hand, the HDFC Bank on Thursday announced that it will restore and repair 20 government schools in Odisha that were affected by Cyclone Fani .

The private-run bank, in a media release, said that the initiative is aimed to help restore normalcy for distressed school students in the cyclone- hit districts of Khordha, Puri and Cuttack under its ‘Parivartan’ programme .

The restoration plan will cover repairs and refurbishment for school premises as well as restoring sanitation facilities, it said.

The 20 schools will be finalised in consultation with the state government, the release added saying that the Bank’s local NGO partners will provide on-ground help with the execution of the work.

The bank also donated Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for rebuilding cyclone-ravaged Odisha.
