Cyclone Bulbul : Heavy rains lash several parts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains due to cyclonic storm Bulbul lashed several parts of Odisha on Saturday morning. Strong winds and heavy rainfall prevailed in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak  and Balasore districts in the state.

Trees were uprooted in many places including Paradip and Chandbali, affecting vehicular communication in the coastal region.

No causalities have been reported so far, said SRC.

Paradip recorded the highest rainfall of 159 mm during the last 24 hours followed by Chandbali with 143 mm and Balasore with 32 mm, official sources said.

The State government has deployed National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and fire service personnel in nine coastal districts in view of the cyclone Bulbul.
