Kendrapara: A 70 year old man died after asbestos fell on him in Gajarajpur village under Rajkanika police station limits in the district.
The deceased has been identified as Ganeswar Malik. As per reports the incident took place when the elderly man sleeping in his house.
“A piece of asbestos fell on his chest in the strong winds caused by cyclone Bulbul. He screamed for help. We rushed near him but by that time he was dead,” said a family member.
According to a report released by the regional centre of IMD, Rajnagar and Rajkanika blocks of Kendrapara district and Chandbali block of Bhadrak district have received rainfall above 100mm in past 24 hours by Saturday 8:30am.
While Rajnagar and Rajkanika blocks received 180mm and 136mm rainfall respectively, 150mm rainfall was recorded in Chandbali block of Bhadrak district.
