Cyber fraud in Odisha: Man sends blank messages, loots over Rs 1.15 lakh

Bhubaneswar: Cybercriminals have become active during the ongoing Valentine week. They send different blank messages with lucrative gift offers to people and loot money from their bank accounts. One such report has been reported from Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, one Deepak Das of Bhubaneswar lost over Rs 1.15 lakh from his bank account soon after he opened a blank message.

The Cyber Police Station started an investigation after Das filed a written complaint.

While further investigation into the matter is still underway, the victim is said to have got back around Rs 85, 000.

Meanwhile, the Cyber experts said that Cyber fraudsters send blank messages by changing phone numbers. They send blank messages to unknown numbers by giving them lucrative offers and gifts and anyone who clicks on the link loses money from their bank account. Therefore, people should avoid clicking on such blank messages, advised the Cyber experts.
