Cuttack: 3 boys drown in Mahanadi; 1 dies, 2 missing

Cuttack: In an unfortunate incident, as many as three minor boys drowned in the Mahanadi river near Jobra in Cuttack on Sunday. While one of them was rescued in a critical condition and died while undergoing treatment, two others are still missing.

A total of three boys identified as Chhotu, Raj and Sahil of Chunabhati Charigharia area were taking bath in the Mahanadi River this afternoon. However, they were swept away due to the strong current in the river.

A team of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Odisha Fire personnel reached the spot and started a rescue operation. Some locals also joined in the search operation.

Till this report was being filed, one of the boys was rescued in a critical condition and was rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment. However, he breathed his last at the health centre.

On the other hand, a search operation by the rescue team is still underway to trace two other missing boys.
